As Christmas is near the language clubs are getting ready. Madame Shimer, the French teacher, stated, “It’s nice to be in an environment where students can learn in a relaxing way.” At this cookie exchange each language, French, Spanish, and German, come together and exchange cookies and sing Christmas carols in the language their club is representing. Madame is ready to bring drinks and cookies. She is expecting an outcome of about forty students, whereas French club president, Alyssa Betsko, is expecting around twenty members.
“What’s better than singing in foreign languages?” asks Betsko. She is overly excited to attend her fourth year of the cookie exchange. The exchange takes place December 11, 2014 in the East Pennsboro Area High School library and anyone in a language club is welcome to come. “The worst part,” begins Betsko, “is all the weight I gain after eating those delicious German cookies.” Each language brings cookies and their voices ready to sing and show off their represented countries. Both Madame and Betsko were overly excited to represent the French club in the upcoming cookie exchange.
