As we approach the final meet of the 2017 season for East Pennsboro Track and Field, the team had the week off from meets and used the time to train for the meet against Northern York and Harrisburg Christian. This meet has big implications for the girls team as they can become division champions with a win over Northern. The boys can also finish out a successful season with wins over both teams which would put their record at 8-2. The most recent event was last Saturday on April 22 which was the 91st Jack Roddick Invitational hosted by Shippensburg University. Only a select few athletes were invited to participate as only the best athletes on the team competed in their events. For the girls, Jenna White, Ashley Wertz, Olivia Taverna and Cece Insalaco competed in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 51:45. Taverna also compete in the 4×400 meter relay along with Kylie Wertz, Kylie Magaro, Cece Insalaco with a time of 4:36.32. Hope Geisler ran the 100 meter hurdles and finished with a time of 16.53. Cece Insalaco (12.59) and Olivia Taverna (13.32) each sprinted the 100 meter race. Insalaco also sprinted the 200 meter with a time of 26.13. Jesse Margraff was the only participant in the girls 3200 meter race finishing with a time of 11.24.05. In the Long Jump, Kylie Wertz recorded a distance of 15-7.75 and Sarah Fake threw a distance of 97-03 in the Javelin. The boys also competed in the 4×100 meter relay and the team consisted of Noah Alejandro, Garrett Stuck, Joe Manseray and Drew Roman who finished with a time of 45.55. Alejandro also competed in the 100 meter race with a time of 11.61. Drew Roman raced in the 400 meter with a time of 52.46. Tyler Brighton was the only distance runner who competed in the 2000 meter Steeplechase for his first time ever and recorded a time of 7:00.19. Finally, Payton Morris Pole Vaulted a 15-7 breaking his own school record again. The team will end the season on Tuesday of next week where the seniors on the team will also be recognized.
